Requirements for Presenters and JSME Membership Package

ROBOMECH2026 Presentation Eligibility

The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME) limits the eligibility for research presentations to members (or members of sponsoring or supporting organizations that confirm JSME membership equivalence for research presentations). For more details, please refer to the JSME website. This rule also applies to ROBOMECH.

JSME Membership Package

JSME offers a membership package that allows non-members or general students to register for ROBOMECH without separately paying admission fees or annual membership fees for 2026.

Important Notes:

  • Registrations through the membership package are non-cancellable and non-refundable.
  • In some cases, the total cost may be lower if you first join as a regular or student member and then register for participation. If you have decided to join, it is recommended to apply for membership in advance.
  • Students enrolling through the membership package will not receive the journal. Those wishing to receive the journal should apply for membership without using the package.

Procedures from Presentation Application to Paper Submission

There are five cases for procedures from presentation application to paper submission.

  1. If the presenter is a JSME member
  2. If the presenter is a member of a sponsoring or supporting organization
  3. If a non-member presenter uses the membership package (first-time membership only)
  4. If a non-member presenter applies for membership without using the package
  5. If a non-presenter uses the membership package (first-time membership only)

* Each deadline is listed for reference, but please note that the dates listed on the application/submission page, etc. will take precedence.

Important Notes on Membership Procedures:

  • The membership package applies to non-presenters as well.
  • The membership package is limited to first-time JSME members. Those who have been JSME members in the past must apply for membership through the standard procedure without using the package.
  • Please complete early registration as soon as possible.

(A) If the presenter is a JSME member

  1. Presentation Application (Before Deadline):
    Please apply for the presentation under the membership category "JSME Member." Your membership ID is required.
  2. Participation Registration (Before Paper Submission):
    Register yourself as a "Regular Member of JSME" or "Student Member of JSME." Your membership ID is required. Complete the registration and payment procedures Before Paper Submission.
  3. Paper Submission (Before Deadline):
    When uploading your paper, you will need to enter the following three numbers: Presentation ID, JSME Membership ID, and Reservation Number from participation registration.

(B) If the presenter is a member of a sponsoring or supporting organization

  1. Presentation Application (Before Deadline):
    Apply under the membership category "Member of Sponsoring or Supporting Organization."
  2. Participation Registration (Before Paper Submission):
    Register yourself as a "Regular Member of Sponsoring Organization" or "Student Member of Sponsoring Organization." Complete the registration and payment procedures Before Paper Submission.
  3. Paper Submission (Before Deadline):
    When uploading your paper, you will need to enter the following three numbers: Presentation ID, Membership ID of the sponsoring organization, and Reservation Number from participation registration.

(C) If a non-member presenter uses the membership package

  1. Presentation Application (Before Deadline):
    Select "Membership Package" as the membership category when applying for the presentation.
  2. Membership Package Application (Presenter) (Before Paper Submission):
    Apply for membership through the JSME website. When submitting your application, be sure to select the "Robomech2026 Enrollment pack (ROBOMECH registrants only)" in the application information (If you select anything other than the membership package, note that the society will send a notice requesting the membership fee). Be sure to register an email address where you can be contacted in April/May 2026.
  3. Participation Registration (Before Paper Submission):
    Register under the category "Membership Package (General)" or "Membership Package (Student)." And complete the payment procedures.
  4. Paper Submission (Before Deadline):
    Enter the following three numbers during paper upload: Presentation ID, temporary Membership ID (received after membership application), and Reservation Number from participation registration.

Important Notes:

  • If you selected "Membership Package" during presentation application, please complete the following by the final paper submission deadline: membership application, participation registration, and payment. For those who selected bank transfer, payment must be completed within one week after participation registration.
  • * Applications that have not completed "Membership Application," "Participation Registration," and "Payment" by the deadline will be canceled by the administrative office.
  • Your official JSME membership number will be issued around the 20th of each month after April upon payment confirmation.
  • Please note that participation registration payments using the membership package are non-refundable.

(D) If a non-member presenter applies for membership without using the package

  1. Presentation Application (Before Deadline):
    Select "JSME Member" as the membership category when applying, and choose "Regular (Pending Application)" or "Student (Pending Application)."
  2. Membership Application:
    Apply for membership on the JSME website. Pay the admission fee and annual membership fee as instructed in the billing email. Complete the process as soon as possible as membership is confirmed after payment.
  3. Participation Registration (Before Paper Submission):
    Register as "Regular Member of JSME" or "Student Member of JSME." Your membership ID is required. And complete the payment procedures.
  4. Paper Submission (Before Deadline):
    Enter the following three numbers during paper upload: Presentation ID, JSME Membership ID, and Reservation Number from participation registration.

(E) If a non-presenter uses the membership package

  1. Membership Package Application (Non-presenter) (Deadline: May 1):
    Apply for membership through the JSME website. When submitting your application, be sure to select the "Robomech2026 Enrollment pack (ROBOMECH registrants only)" in the application information (If you select anything other than the membership package, note that the society will send a notice requesting the membership fee). Be sure to register an email address where you can be contacted in April/May 2026. (Note that membership packages do not apply to applications submitted after the deadline.)
  2. Early Registration (Non-presenter) (Deadline: May 1):
    Register under the category "Membership Package (General)" or "Membership Package (Student)." And complete the payment procedures.

Important Notes:

  • Please ensure that "Membership Application," "Participation Registration," and "Payment" are completed by the May 1 deadline. For those choosing bank transfer, payment must also be completed by this date.
  • Your official JSME membership number will be issued around the 20th of each month after April upon payment confirmation.
  • Note that payments for participation registration using the membership package are non-refundable after submission.
